Last week, we joined together to honour the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to thank all those who continue to make incredible sacrifices in the fight against this virus. The past year has not been easy on Canadians, but we now finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.
From March 22nd to May 10th, Canada will receive at least 1 million doses a week from Pfizer alone, and before the end of this month, we will have received a total of 8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines. By the end of September, we will have more than enough vaccines for every Canadian who wants one.
Across the country, more than 3.5 million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to Canadians. That means millions more grandparents, healthcare workers, and vulnerable people are now safer, and that number will only keep growing as we receive more shipments and deliver them to provinces and territories for distribution.
Until everyone is vaccinated, we must all keep doing everything we can to stop the spread of COVID-19, especially as new variants of concern cases are on the rise. This means following local public health guidelines, avoiding all non-essential travel, and using the COVID Alert application.
