Climate change is the greatest long-term threat of our generation, but it is also the greatest economic opportunity. That’s why we’re committed to reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. By doing this, we will create jobs, grow middle class, and strengthen our economy, while also protect our environment and ensuring a healthy future for our kids and grandkids.
To help us get to net-zero emissions, we will improve the energy efficiency of the places we live and gather, make clean and affordable transportation and power available in our communities, use nature solutions, like planting trees, to reduce pollution, and continue to put a rising price on pollution that will put more money back into the pockets of Canadians. From building new infrastructure to investing in retrofits and planting trees, these initiatives will cut pollution and get Canadians back to work.
As part of our plan to build a cleaner and more competitive Canada, we will also help Canadian businesses reduce emissions and make low-carbon products that the world wants. And just yesterday, we further committed to work closely with the Biden administration on fighting climate change and building a clean energy future – because to create jobs and grow the middle class for people on both sides of the border, we need to work together.
