Investments in clean transportation options like zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) will be key to building back better from the COVID-19 pandemic, and will create new jobs, grow the middle class, cut pollution, and protect our environment.

Since 2016, we’ve invested more than $1 billion to make electric vehicles more affordable and create a cross-Canada network of fast chargers to make charging infrastructure more accessible. We’ve also provided incentives of up to $5,000 to make it easier for Canadians to buy EVs and provided tax write-offs for businesses looking to purchase them.

Recently, we provided significant funding in Budget 2021 for Canada to work with international partners, including the U.S., to develop a set of standards for ZEV charging and fuelling stations. This will give Canadians more confidence to buy and drive ZEVs, help cut pollution, and create jobs and growth in the zero-emission car industry. Together, we will reach net-zero by 2050 and build a healthier, stronger, and greener Canada for everyone.
